An exhibition, two exhibition houses - how is that possible? This idea is currently being implemented "Between Pixel and Pigment. Hybrid painting in postdigital times" in the Marta Herford and the Bielefeld Kunsthalle

Until November 10, 2024, visitors still have the opportunity to experience an impressive collection of artistic work that impressively demonstrates that painting in the digital age has by no means lost in importance.

Rather, it turns out that it receives new impulses through the dynamics of digitization and continues to develop.

The exhibition offers a fascinating range, from the iconic works of Andy Warhol to the innovative creations of Peter Kogler and the contemporary masterpieces of Tim Berresheim and Avery Singer . A total of approximately 150 exhibits by 25 artists span the two museums, transporting visitors to a world that operates at the interface between digital pixels and traditional color pigments.

This hybrid approach to painting leads to a fertile examination of the possibilities that modern technology offers us - and impressively proves that creativity knows no limits.

Michael Stoeber , author of the Kunstforum , describes in his review after visiting this exhibition:

The collective effort has produced great. And even if you can look at the exhibitions each with a profit, it is definitely worth taking the short journey of a few kilometers between the two cities to see everything. ”

The assessment not only emphasizes the attraction of the connection between the two institutions, but also encourages the exhibits to deal directly - an invitation that they certainly do not want to reject.

Get an idea of this extraordinary fusion of digitality and painting yourself. Let yourself be inspired by the variety of creative approaches and the dialogue between tradition and innovation, which comes alive in these two exhibition houses.

Further information can be found directly on the exhibition pages of the two museums:

In order to immerse yourself even deeper into the topic, I recommend that you read Kunstforum Volume 298

AI Art - Art and Artificial Intelligence

In this magazine rubric you will find numerous reports and articles on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in art , design and architecture .

It is not just about the question of how AI can be used in these areas, but also about the effects of this on creative people.

Because while some experts assume that the use of AI will lead to a revolution in art and design, there are also voices from the industry itself, which are skeptical about AI art and AI-based image generators .

An early example from 2016 for the use of AI in art is the project "The Next Rembrandt" . Software was developed here, which has created a new painting in the Dutch painter's style using data analysis - without human intervention.

The result was surprisingly realistic and already clearly showed the potential of this technology.

What does this development mean for traditional craftsmanship? Are they unnecessary or can new options be created?

Many people deal with these questions equally within and outside of the industry.

In any case, the connection between art and artificial intelligence offers us exciting insights into possible future scenarios.

We cordially invite you to go with us together on a journey of discovery!
