The garden in front of a detached house is a constant source of problems for many people. On average, it measures 300 square meters, too small for any pleasing garden landscape that people without gardening skills could easily and quickly create.

Therefore, these gardens often look quite dreary until the new homeowners have acquired the necessary knowledge. Until then, their courage often only extends to sadly tidy flowerbeds; the plants in the garden can only develop within clearly defined boundaries, and the flowerbeds are kept in the same state year after year with a lot of chemicals.

Chainsaw art

For the “everyday artists,” the people among us who live their creativity daily, the garden in front of the detached house has never been a problem area. Rather, it is a vast field for creative activity, where plants are allowed to grow as they please, even if the results are sometimes surprising.

In which one can very often admire several works of art. Works of art that may have originated from what grew in the garden and became accessible to artistic interpretation because it reached an age where its plant lifespan had ended.

creative gardener has ideas about what to do with a tree stump if the old tree had to be felled for safety reasons. The more conventional gardener will destroy such stumps by attacking them with harsh chemicals, grinding them down to below ground level, or using an excavator to transform the tree's root area into a lunar landscape.

However, you can also easily create art from these tree stumps if you have creative ideas and the time and craftsmanship. If you lack the necessary skills and don't feel the need to take a chainsaw course to undertake the artistic transformation yourself, you can always ask someone who can carry out such ideas.

Such woodworking artists exist among us; several foresters have specialized in transforming old trees into works of art, rather than simply burying them without a trace. In the hands of a skilled chainsaw artist, an old tree stump can become an abstract sculpture , giving the garden a completely new and unique focal point.

The tree stump can also become an animal sculpture, art into the garden, perhaps a giant fish looking towards the sky, a shy vulture, or a simply textured upright bear that already looks truly impressive.

Perhaps the squirrels under the mushroom cap or the adorable rabbits on the tree slice fall more into the realm of kitsch than art, but even kitsch in the garden can be fun, especially for children. And some of these wooden sculptures are truly hilariously funny, like the pair of meerkats with their reserved and laconic demeanor.

Unfortunately, there are far too few creative garden owners among us who see their garden as a space where not only currants but also the occasional work of art can find its place. We would be delighted to welcome artists who transform leftover wood from their garden into art using a chainsaw.

You can offer your services and post pictures of finished works, so that there will be more and more to discover in many German front gardens or gardens in the future!

In the following short video you can see how works of art are created with a chainsaw.

This video was filmed in August 2010 at an event in Tornau.

Garden design & landscape architecture

Section for garden design, outdoor decoration, garden design, garden sculptures and landscape architecture.

In today's time, the topic of garden design and landscape architecture is gaining more and more importance. More and more often, the garden is considered an extension of the living space, which is why outdoor decoration also plays an important role.

But the garden should not only be visually appealing – it should also be functional and provide the residents with a place to relax or spend time outdoors with friends and family.

A successful garden design can help meet these demands. However, it's not just about choosing beautiful plants or setting up suitable furniture.

Rather, a comprehensive plan must be created in which all elements are harmoniously interconnected.

Currently, garden sculptures of various kindsare particularly popular as garden art: Whether modern sculptures made of metal or classic stone figures – they set special accents in the green environment and can thus become a focal point for visitors.

So, if you want to redesign your outdoor area or are simply looking for inspiration, you are in the right place!

In our section you will find numerous ideas on the topic of garden design as well as tips from experts on how to implement your own ideas.

Art styles and movements

The art style or also the direction in artworks refers to the uniform expression of the artworks and cultural products of an era, an artist or an artist group, an art movement, or an art school.

This is a tool for categorising and systematising the diversity of art. It denotes similarities that distinguish it from others.

The term is thematically related to the Art Movement, but it should not be viewed solely within a temporal framework and is therefore much broader.

In this section, we would like to help you gain a better understanding of styles and movements in art.
