Glenys Flint dedicates herself to large-format seascapes in oil. Although she had always enjoyed drawing, her true journey as a painter only began in 2018, when she moved to Madeira after a career as a fashion designer. The Atlantic islands, with their dramatic landscapes, became the decisive inspiration for her artistic work. Her first pieces—fashion portraits as a reminiscence of her earlier career—quickly evolved into detailed, large-format floral paintings. But the ocean surrounding Madeira exerted an irresistible fascination on her. "It's the unique, constantly changing state of the sea, lying still and sparkling in the sun one moment and the next whipped up by the wind, roaring and foaming with an unstoppable force, that inspires me," the artist explains.
