The common kestrel, Bird of the Year 2007, acts as a link between nature and human civilization. As the most common and well-known falcon in Central Europe, it readily uses human settlements as nesting grounds. In Schinzel's depiction, the powerful bird of prey looks around attentively, perhaps observing the curious activities of the people around it.
