German sculptor, born in 1919 in Jägerndorf/Sudetenland, lives and works in Waldbronn. Are there still true "classics" among sculptors? Artists who create works that are entirely in keeping with the tradition of their art, openly and directly inheriting the legacy of the greats of their field, and yet manage to appear contemporary? They do exist, and Erwin A. Schinzel is one of them. His works demonstrate the masterful craftsmanship of an era when precision and perfection of representation were still the highest standards of sculpture. They deliberately ignore all the fashions and modernisms of the century that essentially encompassed his lifetime.
