The American Roy Lichtenstein shaped Pop Art like almost no other artist besides Andy Warhol. His paintings can be found in all the world's major art capitals. His artistic hallmark is the use of dots, which he applies in combination with areas of color. This technique was initially developed for industrial printing to save ink and costs. Unlike Warhol, who printed them, Lichtenstein painted these dots by hand. Perhaps the most radical representative of Pop Art, he was at heart a classical painter.
