Andy Warhol's (1928-1987) "A Gold Book" motif is based on the work from the eponymous 1957 art book, which includes some hand-colored offset lithographs. It is one of the artist's early works and illustrates his illustrative approach in the late 1950s. Accordingly, "A Gold Book" can be seen as a reference to his work as a graphic designer and illustrator for fashion and lifestyle magazines.
