The South Tyrolean sculptor Richard Senoner primarily uses linden wood for his nude sculptures. To allow the fine grain of the wood to show through and to preserve the natural appearance of the sculptures, he completely forgoes the use of paints or varnishes. The combination of form and untreated material makes Senoner's work so impressive.

The South Tyrolean sculptor Richard Senoner has made nudes the focus of his work and perfected the depiction of the female body over more than 15 years. His wooden sculptures show women in various sensual poses. "The nude—the classic motif in art par excellence—gives me the greatest possible freedom in my work as a sculptor to translate expressiveness, aesthetics, and harmony into sculpture. My primary concern is to portray humanity in various thematic aspects," he says.
