Bronze sculpture “Torso Giulia” (2017) by KAY

Born in 1956, Kay Winkler, who goes by the name KAY, studied at the Academies of Fine Arts in Munich and Stuttgart, pursued sculpture studies under Ibscher, and was an assistant in the graphic design studio of Professor HC Berann. He debuted at the age of 18 with an exhibition at the Haus der Kunst in Munich. Winkler's central theme is the naked female body, which, after extensive anatomical studies, he is able to depict with lifelike realism in every conceivable position. As an introverted, sensitive artist who abhors superficial self-promotion and sensationalist scandals, KAY adheres to the dynamic relationships of organic forms and pays homage to the sexually charged female body without resorting to superficial piquancy. Through the intensity of his work, KAY has developed a subtle formal and gestural language rarely encountered in the art world. His works can be found in private collections, numerous exhibitions, and the European Sculpture Gallery. The artist died in 2023.
