Bronze sculpture “Alberta” by SIME
Sculpture “Alberta”, bronze
Sime's "Alberta" initially strikes the viewer as extremely classical, an impression further emphasized by the classic pose and the delicate folds of the gossamer-thin gown. Yet, it also possesses slightly abstracted qualities; Sime is concerned with a clarity of expression, which he achieves precisely through this kind of reduced style.
Sculpture in fine bronze, cast using the lost-wax process, hand-chased, polished, and patinated. Limited edition of 99 pieces, numbered, signed, and stamped with the foundry and ars mundi marks. Includes a numbered certificate of authenticity and limitation.

Born in Gorica, Croatia, in 1968, the painter and sculptor Mladen Simunovic, known as SIME, belongs to a young generation of artists who harmoniously combine tradition and modernity. His sculptures demonstrate that classical art themes are not exhausted for him; he consistently offers new, subjective perspectives. After training in applied arts, he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. SIME uses numerous preparatory drawings to develop his sculptures from materials such as clay and bronze. His works captivate with clear forms and reduced representations, while always maintaining natural proportions and a dynamic aesthetic. Since 1999, he has worked as a freelance sculptor in Munich and has received several awards in Croatia. In recent years, he has exhibited increasingly in Germany.
