Mixed-media nude painting “Abundatia” (2021) by Alina Konyk (Ukraine)

This is the first artwork created in a collaboration between Alina Konyk and Oleg Kaznacheiev in a new series dedicated to national identity. The foundation of this series is the idea of ​​preserving an authentic vision and the desire to embrace the culture and aesthetics of folk art, unique to each region of Ukraine. The painting is inspired by decorative applied art from the Hutsul region. At its center is an element long used to decorate chests. Patterns surrounding it are also found on Easter eggs and in embroidery. They symbolize prosperity and fertility and serve as talismans. The painting is executed using various techniques and materials, combining the skills of two artists. From every angle, this work appears different, its appearance influenced by its surroundings. The artwork is like a woman, possessing a changeable character and mood. The name Abundatia, from Latin, means "abundance" or "abundance.".
