Gold-colored bronze sculpture “Thinking of You” by Valerie Otte
The young woman sits lost in thought on a chair—perhaps in a quiet apartment, perhaps in a bustling café—gazing dreamily at her mobile phone. She may be hesitating to call a loved one she misses, or perhaps she is looking at a photograph of them. Without a doubt, however, her thoughts are connected to the outside world. Valerie Otte grants the viewer a profound insight into her protagonist's inner world.
Sculpture in fine bronze, cast using the lost-wax process, hand-chiseled, polished and gold-patinated.
Limited edition of 49 copies, individually numbered and signed. With numbered certificate of authenticity and limitation.
Format 22.5 x 26 x 10.5 cm (H/W/D). Weight approx. 2.4 kg.

One can describe Otte's art—as is often the case in figurative sculpture—as a play of perception at a distance. The prerequisite for this play: precise observation. On the one hand, on the part of the artist. In her works, she translates everything she has observed in the world as a subtle stirring of emotion, a small gesture, or a moment of authenticity, imbuing it into her creations. The viewer, on the other hand, "reads" these traces cast in bronze and soon sees not merely sculptures, but personalities. It is a game that educates—not only for art, but also for the world. Valerie Otte (born 1977) studied sculpture and art history in London and Berlin. She subsequently earned a diploma in product design in Potsdam—this, taken together, describes the approach and versatility of her work.
