Sculpture “Devotion” by Jürgen Götze, Limited Edition in artificial marble

Born in Coburg in 1964, sculptor Jürgen Götze prefers to call himself a "sculpteur" rather than a sculptor. For 15 years, he worked as a modeler at one of Germany's leading porcelain manufacturers. Alongside this, he created numerous works based on his own designs, inspired by studies of Expressionism and Art Nouveau. Since 1999, Götze has worked freelance in his own studio in Moggenbrunn. In April 2006, Bavarian Television featured a segment from the artist's studio as part of its "Fascination Art" series. Jürgen Götze exhibits his work both nationally and internationally, including at ART Innsbruck in 2013. The artist's particular focus is on figurative sculpture. His works, inspired by his engagement with natural forms, are characterized by an emphasis on expansive forms rendered in a clear, linear style. The female nude, which the artist explores within the tension between abstraction and eroticism, is considered a "supreme discipline" for sculptors. Its precursors, from antiquity to the present day, are numerous. To approach this subject in one's own style is a great challenge. Jürgen Götze accepts it; on the one hand, he engages with the long tradition, but on the other hand, he draws inspiration from modern forms of expression that have shaped him as an artist. The result is an expressive portrayal of the modern, self-confident woman.
