Limited edition porcelain sculpture “Clown” by Peter Strang
Strang's clown certainly deviates from the stereotypical image. He is – as is common knowledge in circus circles – essentially a melancholic in a colorful, mottled costume.
Limited to 199 pieces. Due to the elaborate hand-painting process, minor variations in the finish are unavoidable. Dimensions of the porcelain sculpture: 14 x 18 x 8 cm (W/H/D).

Few sculptors have shaped the tradition of Meissen porcelain as much as Peter Strang: Born in Dresden in 1936, the artist is renowned today for his wall sculptures, portraits, and sculptures in fine porcelain. After his apprenticeship at the State Porcelain Manufactory, Strang studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts and returned to the Meissen Manufactory in 1959 as a graduate sculptor. In 1973, he was appointed artistic director of the State Porcelain Manufactory. Since 2001, Strang, who has been awarded the "Art Prize of the GDR," the "National Prize for Literature and Art," and the "Saxon Order of Merit," has worked as a freelance artist.
