Sculpture pair “Bull and Bear”, version in art bronze by Roman
Sculpture pair “Bull and Bear”, version in art bronze
In the 16th century, the Spanish brought bullfighting to the New World. The Mexicans, however, quickly changed the rules and sent the bull into the arena alongside a chained grizzly bear. The poet Don José de la Vega applied this image to the events at the Amsterdam Stock Exchange in 1688. Since then, the bull and the bear have been as much a part of the stock market as the Dow Jones and Wall Street.
