The formal clarity of the beautiful gardener enhances her presence. Through the sculpture's volume and its smooth, unadorned surface, we recognize the beauty of the material. The shimmering golden bronze captures the surrounding light and reflects it in ever-changing modulations. Plasticity is not only a property of a body, but also the interplay of light. The figure's finely modeled face leads us back to interpretations of its meaning. It has an indeterminate expression: concentration, desire, renunciation, an inward gaze—these are possibilities for projecting our own dreams onto the work. And the cap of green vine leaves, from which the sculpture derives its name, brings us back from the dream world to reality.
