Hand-painted sculpture “Puss in Boots” by Jochen Bauer
Sculpture cast in metal and hand-painted.
Once upon a time, there lived a miller with three sons, a mill, a donkey, and a cat. The Brothers Grimm fairy tale explores simple themes such as injustice in inheritance, gratitude, and the unexpected good fortune of the seemingly disadvantaged, which leads him to prosperity. Characters like Puss in Boots or Lucky Hans are deeply rooted in our cultural memory and inspire artists, including sculptors.

Born in Coburg in 1951, sculptor Jochen Bauer was one of Germany's leading porcelain modelers for almost 30 years. Since 1999, he has dedicated himself to sculpture and painting as a freelance artist. With his exceptional technique, he is considered one of the industry's great talents when it comes to translating a concept into three dimensions. In his own work, he favors naturalistic motifs, which he executes with a keen eye for flowing (bodily) forms and expressive poses, achieving perfect craftsmanship.
