O

In the streets, alleys and squares of the historic old town of Regensburg and Stadtamhof, up to 15 impressive works of international light artists shine. Regensburg thus turns into a stage, a canvas and a place for the international light art scene.

During a walk through the city, visitors can experience well -known and distinctive places in a new fascinating light. There are also hidden treasures and less well -known places to discover. The diversity of the city and public space can be viewed with a fresh look.

Open Call for artistic work at two locations in Regensburg

The Re.light Festival starts its first edition and now invites artists, artists and collectives to apply with their (light) artistic work. Light installations are sought for two locations in Regensburg.

The tender is aimed at contemporary artists who use the medium of light as the central element of their works. It is of great importance that the submitted artistic concept focuses on the medium of light and it is an integral part of the work.

The Open Call offers a platform for innovative approaches in dealing with light and enables the participants to present and implement their ideas in a new way. Applications are now possible!

Interested artists are invited to apply until November 26, 2023, 11:59 p.m. CET at www.righte-regensburg.de . Applications can be submitted in German or English.

Location 1: Stone Bridge

As part of the cooperation with the R-NEX funding program “Steinerne Brücke” is sought for an artistic work . The bridge, built completely made of stone, is an outstanding example of medieval architecture and at the same time the oldest preserved bridge in Germany.

In addition to the cathedral, the stone bridge is the best known and most important building in the historic city, which received the UNESCO World Heritage title in 2006. Interested artists from all over the world now have the opportunity to apply for a creative design of the stone bridge.

Location 2: The M26

Up to five artistic works are sought for the “M26” . The M26, a place of culture and society in Regensburg, will revitalize Maximilianstrasse 26 by the end of 2026.

It sees itself as a "cultural location" , where the focus is on participation, education, arrival and integration. Since the beginning of the year, the art and cultural scene of Regensburg these centrally located premises of a total of 400 square meters along the way from the train station to the city center.

A community café within the project acts as a social meeting point without compulsory consumption for all citizens of the city. For location 2, regional artists are addressed with a reference to Regensburg.

Living from art

A basic need for every artistically creating person should be able to live from his art.

In order to secure your own existence, it is essential to make money with art . In fact, contrary to the majority perception, many artists can live well from their creative work these days. Nevertheless, a vast majority of all freelance artists are dependent on further sources of income (e.g. giving courses, order work, part -time jobs, etc.).

The recognition as an artist often does not yet bring any direct financial security. Therefore, artists are often life artists at the same time.

However, the possibilities of being able to live on your own art have grown greatly through the Internet and social media. As an artist, however, you have to be versatile and flexible to be successful. A certain degree of perseverance is also essential.

Customer care and self -marketing are also important pillars for success as an artist .

In this section we have numerous contributions, information, tips and advice, which should help you live from your art.
