Art of primary and early history: Germanic art

Germanic art belongs entirely to the original and early history of art and not to the actual art history of the Nordic peoples. Because this art history is not processed as a "Germanic art history", but is presented as the art history of the nations, to which the Germanic tribes finally became and that still exist today.

The various Germanic tribes, from Langobards to Vikings, which populated the European area from Italy to high to the north, did not create a high culture anywhere. Culture yes, with gulgobben and even more gold, women (why only women?), Helmet panels and riding stones, various art styles called Borres style , jelling-style , Mammen-style , Oseberg style , rune-style , rune stone style , animal style , style and Vendelstil Wirrades, but not a high culture.

One may argue about whether tiny gold plates full of detailed figures that have been driven into a fine touch are not decidedly highly cultural than a Warhol tin collection; But there is a lot more to a high culture: uniform writing and language, calendar system that form common thinking and feeling together with culture and religion; Agriculture including trade and storage; Development of cities and sciences; politically organized society with organized and planned acting government, legal and administrative system;

Labor -part job of citizens; Training of specialized social classes; powerful military system with professional soldiers; the creation of demanding artistic achievements in the fields of literature, music, visual art and architecture.

Germanic art

The Germanic tribes may lack some characteristics of high culture; Especially with the cities and the sciences and the architecture, it was not that far. But politically organized were of course the societies at that time, especially if one assumes the original meaning of the term - all activity and every thought that affected the community of the "ancient Greeks".

There were also approaches of an organized and planned government, legal and administrative system (and maybe the one is not wrong, which immediately "approaches have probably worked better" by the head), a powerful military system with professional soldiers and the regular training of specialized social classes (for the care of scrapped military leaders) anyway, and the claim or the sophisticity of artistic services may also be in the eye of the viewer lie if the artistic achievements were performed a long time ago.

In retrospect, the non-scientist could find reasons to question the scientific reviews (freely according to the motto: prefer a few fingernail-sized gold plates than a $ 40 million bitch); He should even ask whether this has not already become quite low in culture in 2017.

We are not lacking in demanding achievements by authors and architects, artists and musicians; However, the recognition of these services is more based on the marketing skills of the artist (authors, architects, musicians) and his will and his determination to present themselves in the media than the claim of performance.

The working citizens work in terms of labor until they fall over; Unfortunately, this means that more and more specialists are being created, which are only highly specially developed without sufficiently wide base, because wide training is expensive and the highlight of the whole thing is that the fruits of this difficult work are increasingly only to come up with those who are too expensive for which broad training is too expensive.

The powerful military system has now been exposed as a scourge of mankind and the army of professional soldiers as a good way to produce hardened psychopaths, emotionless social cripples or other internal or external traumatic stress.

With the specialized social classes, the problems increase the more the specialization "earn a lot of money" in the foreground; The politically organized society is apolitical or disappears into echroes; The organized and planned government, legal and administrative system does not create the construction of an airport and a train station in which the Chinese convert halfland.

The cities are becoming increasingly uninhabitable for normal citizens, the sciences are subject to the market, agriculture destroys the country and the groundwater, trade secretly adopted rule.

Advancement gives way to zero-owned, uniform script and language, calendar system, culture and religion only form for those common thinking and feeling that do not barricade themselves ... Perhaps the definition of the high cultures should be reconsidered.
