As a passionate hobby artist, I took the step at the end of October 2011, which is supposed to draw my further development in the areas of drawing and painting. Learning this craft or art has long been a concern of me. There is still a lack of mastery of some basic techniques of drawing and painting.
Learning online was therefore an option for me because I did not want to be locally bound and want to practice the creative design from anywhere.
So I signed up for the intensive drawing course offered by the Darmstadt Study Group and now have the first three lessons in my hands.

I am very happy that I decided like that. In advance, I looked at information material and trials from various providers of long -distance courses. After a few days, I decided on the intensive course for the SGD.
The intensive "Drawing" course is a beginner's course that teaches professional drawing techniques. This helps you fully immerse yourself in art and achieve your artistic potential. This drawing course can be considered a high-quality education and an introduction to oil and watercolor painting.
You'll be guided by experienced teachers who are also artists. However, one of the most important advantages of this art course , for me, is that you develop your own style. This way, you develop a unique selling point that sets you apart from the crowd.
The course runs about 12-18 months and costs around 100 euros per month. It is awesome that you can assert the course for tax purposes and that there are always offers to learn the first 6 weeks free of charge. That makes the drawing course significantly cheaper.
Another important factor in my decision to choose SGD was its state accreditation. All SGD distance learning courses are examined and accredited by the State Central Office for Distance Learning (ZFU) . Furthermore, SGD courses are widely recognized in industry and business and have received numerous awards.
If the costs fail, there are also a number of funding programs and financing options that can be used.

I've now completed the first lesson, which covered the basics of sketching simple objects and still lifes, and I'm very satisfied so far. I get the impression that the teachers are very thorough in their assessment of work and pay close attention to the individual pieces and sketches submitted. I really liked that.
My questions were also answered in detail, and I received extra tips on how to improve my linework. However, I sometimes miss having someone to watch me draw and thus better understand my needs.
But that's the drawback of learning to draw online, and I have to accept it. I'm toying with the idea of supplementing my drawing lessons at the SGD with in-person instruction from a local artist. However, that's also a question of cost.
Conclusion: I am really enthusiastic about the SGD and I am convinced of being with the right provider. There are cheaper offers to learn to draw.
In my opinion, quality suffers significantly in the process. However, my decision was primarily focused on learning to draw properly and to do so at a high level. I've taken smaller DIY courses in books in the past. These were quite friendly for beginners and provide orientation, but to truly learn to draw, you need professional guidance over a period of several months.
Even without in-person instruction, you can learn to draw online at SGD at a reasonable price, and at a relatively high level. However, this requires a certain degree of initiative, self-motivation, and discipline.
I am really looking forward to the next lesson.
Freeler artists since 2005.
